Lead is the most important component for lead-acid battery but it damages human health and pollutes the environment.  Lead is a potent poison and very small quantity of lead will damage human health. Once absorbed into the body, lead will combine with some enzymes and then inhibit the function of them, finally it will bring some physiological and neurological diseases.

Besides, lead is an element which can not be degraded or transformed in the environment. It will be very difficult to clean it up after been abandoned. We must realize the threat that lead may bring to us! If your lead-acid batteries have been out of service, please send them to battery recycling center but not throw directly.
